Training at Surrey Search & Rescue
The team trains at least once a week at locations across Surrey.
New recruits to the operational Search Team must train for a minimum of 6 months in a nationally recognised Lowland Rescue curriculum covering search techniques, casualty care, health and safety, communications, navigation and working with the emergency services. If you are interested in joining the team, you can read more here.
Surrey Search & Rescue’s main type of callout is the missing-person search, where we are trained to analyse the behavioural statistics for any given type of missing person and search accordingly. This method of fast but targeted search has proven extremely effective at maximising the chances of survival for any casualty.
