Friend of SurSAR
SurSAR Friends help the Search Team by performing administration duties, as well as helping at training and fundraising events. Friends will be required to provide more time and cost (travel and sustenance) than Volunteer Supporters, and will be vetted before acceptance.
Friends can be persons with specialist skills to help the Search Team manage their operations. This could include, but is not limited to:
- Accountancy or legal services
- Event organisation
- Large event support for Search Team (catering, first aid etc.)
- Administration management
- Specialist vocational skills (PR, marketing, production, engineering etc.)
The time commitment will typically be greater than for a standard Volunteer Supporter, and there will potentially be personal cost involved – the Charity does not pay members for fuel or time.
Friends must have excellent communication skills and generally good availability.
Friends will need to provide 2x references, an introductory statement about how they think they could help, and depending on their role may be required to undergo Police Vetting which will bring to light any current or spent conviction.
